Tubing and NCAA Tournament, by Tim

I thought tubing was really fun. I liked when the guy spun me really fast. I thought I was going to fall out of the sled. My brother's hat fell off the guy spun him so fast. My mom screamed she went so fast. My dad did the no hand ride. You didn't even have to walk back up the hill. They had a thing that towed you up the hill. After we went tubing we went to Fat Olives. Then we drove home and watched the last three games of the first round in the NCAA tournament. My dad was in first place with twenty five points. I am in second place with twenty four points and my mom is in last place with nineteen points. My brother doesn't want to play because he hates basketball. The first round was really fun. I put North Carolina for my champion. My dad put Uconn. My mom put Pittsburgh. I am really exited about the tournament.

SPRING BREAK!

We decided to spend the week at home. Tad is working on a class for recertification and I've been painting the basement. We have been taking the afternoons off and going on a family outing everyday. Wednesday was the circus (yes, the circus came to Soldotna). Thursday was bowling and yesterday was extreme tubing in Homer. Tim and Alex also declared it a vacation from combing their hair. Below are a couple pictures of bowling and a picture of Redoubt we took on our way home from bowling. It had a nice steam plume going.

When life gives you snow...

Mo

This week, Tad and I received the very sad news that our friend, Mo, had passed away. We all had met each other the year or two after college. We worked for an outdoor science school in the San Bernadino Mountains. We hiked 6th graders around the woods teaching ecology & geology. I think we made something like $10,000/year, but they did give us room and board during the week. We spent the weekends camping, climbing at Joshua Tree, or laying on the beach.


I flipped through the photo album and found these pictures of a trip to Newport Beach. As I remember it, this particular cliff required a running start to clear the out-cropping below. The jump also had to be timed with the wave surge. I'm wearing the cool floral suit with the skin that matches the white sand. Mo is the cute, tan, blonde. Lots of good times. We miss you Mo.

What's this poking me?

Tueday evening, Alex approached Tad and I with this question, "Mommy, Daddy, what's
this poking me?" He opened his mouth, lifted his tongue and pointed behind his bottom front teeth. To which Tad and I replied, "eeww." Sitting a scary distance behind his baby teeth is his first adult tooth. As this looked both painful and expensive, I called the dentist first thing Wednesday morning. Alex had his two bottom front teeth pulled Thursday with the hope that his adult tooth will now migrate forward. When I asked Dr. Hu (Dr. Who?) if it would move that far forward, he responded "maybe."
Alex has developed a very cute lisp.

We've also been enjoying some mild temperatures (upper 20's -lower 30's).
